The course is for beginners and students who need to refresh and improve their darkroom printing skills. The course focuses on how to get the best prints from your negatives through step-by-step demonstrations, including how to use contrast filters and the application of basic print manipulation techniques.

The course covers setting up and handling the enlarger; the preparation of photographic chemicals; making a contact print, test strips, and final prints. You can practise new printing skills using your own negatives or negatives supplied by the tutor.

Students are shown a portfolio with prints made using a range of different photographic papers and printing techniques.
